### What areas do you serve?
We build throughout Jackson, Spring Arbor, Napoleon, Brooklyn, Grass Lake, Michigan Center, Parma, Concord, Homer, Litchfield, Hillsdale, Jonesville and the surrounding parts of Jackson, Hillsdale and Calhoun counties, Michigan. If you are not sure whether we get to your site, call and ask.

### Who actually does the work?
Strouss is owner operated. The family and crew are on the site doing the work themselves rather than handing your project to a rotating cast of subcontractors.

### Are you a licensed builder?

### Does a consult cost anything?
No. The first conversation about your project is free and there is no pressure attached to it. Call or send a note through the contact page.

### Do you build barndominiums?
Yes. Barndominiums and post frame homes are one of the things we build, and we can help you plan one that fits your land and your family.

### Can you build from my own plans?
Absolutely. Bring your plans, or we can help you develop them from an idea and a piece of land.

### We don't know where to begin. Is that okay?
That is how most builds start. Sit down with us, talk through your land, your budget and what you want the house to do for your family, and we will lay out the steps from there. The consult is free and there is no pressure.

### What does it cost per square foot to build?
There is no honest flat number. The site, the foundation, the layout and the finishes you choose all move the cost, which is why every home is quoted to your plans rather than a rate per square foot. Once we see your land and your plans, you get a real number.

### Do you build on your land or ours?
On yours. We build on your property across Jackson County and the surrounding counties, and we can help you think through how the house should sit on the site.

### How long does a new home take?
It depends on the size of the home, the site work and the season, so we would rather give you a real schedule with your quote than a number here. We walk you through the timeline before anything starts.

## Additions & Remodeling
### Do you do kitchen and bathroom remodels?
Yes. Kitchens, baths, additions and full renovations are all part of what we do, handled by the same crew from start to finish.

### Will my home be a mess during the work?
We work in occupied homes all the time. The work area gets contained, we clean up after ourselves, and we keep the rest of the house livable while the job is on.

### Can you match an addition to the existing house?
That is the whole point of a good addition. We match rooflines, siding and trim so the new space looks like it was always part of the home.

### Do you finish basements?
Yes. Finished basements are a regular part of our remodeling work, from framing and insulation through the finished rooms.

### Do you handle the permits?
Yes. We take care of the building permits and the inspections that go with your project, so you are not chasing paperwork.

### Do you build pole barns and post frame buildings?
Yes. Pole barns and post frame buildings are one of our specialties, for storage, work or agriculture, and we build them across Jackson County and the surrounding area.

### Can you match a garage to my house?
Yes. We build detached garages that match the home's roofline, siding and trim so it looks like it was always there.

### What sizes do you build?
From a two car garage to a big pole barn on acreage. The building gets sized to your site and what you actually need to put in it, and we will talk that through before anything is drawn.

### Do you pour the concrete floor?
When it is part of your building project, yes. Site prep and the floor are handled with the build so the whole thing goes up right.

### Do I need a permit for a pole barn?
It depends on your township and what the building is for. Around Jackson County most townships run their own building departments, so the rules change from one township to the next. We sort out what your site needs as part of the job.

Yes. Agricultural and farm buildings are part of our commercial work, built with the same crew and the same standard as everything else.
